The Great Wealth Transfer – Part 2

Life in Goshen [ancient Egypt] for the Hebrews was customary, meaning, “commonly encountered; characterizing a certain community, custom or practice,” over the period of approximately 400 years.  Or, we could say life was predictable, meaning, “behaving in a way to be expected.”  That customary predictable life: social, economic, religious and political, was under the dictates of the elite Pharaohs. The same classifications, without much distinction, could be identified on a global scale under the Pharaohs [the elite of the world] of  today: social, economic, religious and political. Democracy notwithstanding.

We’ve all viewed Hollywood’s depiction of bondage and oppression under Pharaoh, Ramses II on the silver screen. But, the Book of Genesis examples the demeanor the Children of Israel in Genesis 46:33-34: When Pharaoh calls you and says, ‘What is your occupation?’ you shall say, ‘Your servants have been keepers of livestock [or mines, or brickyards] from our youth even until now, both we and our fathers,’ that you may live in the land of Goshen; for every shepherd is loathsome [causing hatred or disgust; repulsive] to the Egyptians.” Egypt was an oppressive [one nation] world system.

Now, for the purpose of establishing patterns of God’s purpose, we’re not going to go into great detail of comparison between the Pharaohs of ancient Egypt and the Pharaohs [elite] of today. It should be easily recognized.  We’re going to examine more closely God’s “love remedy” for His family. In dramatic fashion, God declares His family, His possession: O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine . . .  3For I am the LORD thy God, the Holy One of Israel, thy Saviour: I gave Egypt for thy ransom, Ethiopia and Seba for thee. 4Since thou wast precious in my sight, thou hast been honourable, and I have loved thee: therefore will I give men for thee, and people for thy life,” Isaiah 43.  So, Jehovah will sacrifice men’s lives for His children; and nations for His family!

It was a word from the Lord to Abraham approximately 800 years earlier that foretold the oppression and the life of heavy bondage. Biblical timeline suggests, and tradition holds, that God made His covenant with Abraham approximately 2004 B.C.  Remember Genesis 12, the LORD had called Abraham out of UR of the Chaldees to a land that He would show him.  And Abraham obeyed God and went out from his country; his relatives and his father’s house to the land of Canaan.  And then, the Lord made a covenant with Abraham in Genesis 15.

Covenant Instructions: “… Take me an heifer of three years old, and a she goat of three years old, and a ram of three years old, and a turtledove, and a young pigeon. 10And he took unto him all these, and divided them in the midst, and laid each piece one against another: but the birds divided he not . . . 12And when the sun was going down, a deep sleep fell upon Abram; and, lo, an horror of great darkness fell upon him.”

The Covenant: 13And he said unto Abram, Know of a surety that thy seed shall be a stranger in a land that is not theirs, and shall serve them; and they shall afflict them four hundred years; 14And also that nation, whom they shall serve, will I judge: and afterward shall they come out with great substance.”

The entire covenant deals explicitly with Abraham’s seed serving Egypt with a single purpose: to come out with great substance.”  The worldwide church struggles with an emphasis of “great substance.”  They label it as “prosperity preaching,” or “doctrinal heresy.”  But why is abundance so significant to the Lord?  Well, first of all remember, He owns it; it belongs to Him!  But remember the Lord’s purpose in Deuteronomy 8:18, 18But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day.” God intends to establish His covenant upon the earth with His wealth. His word establishes it. The enemy of Jehovah is aware of this.  Accordingly, he and his angels have worked overtime through history to steal God’s wealth.

So, there is the struggle of two dynamics “in the earth” to establish God’s covenant through the ages. First, there is an enemy of God’s covenant. Second, there is the immaturity leading to maturity of God’s family to establish it to the four corners of the globe. And God says His wealth is significant to establish His covenant in the earth.  It was significant in the Old Testament [Old Covenant], leading to the fullness of time for Christ to appear to continue with a New Testament [New Covenant].  Notice that we said, “continue.”  For some reason, beyond our reason, in God’s plan for establishing His covenant in the earth it takes God’s wealth in the earth.  No wonder “the world,” the family of the enemy, does covet it so.

Then, two dynamics take place “in God’s family” to establish His covenant.  First, a progressive work of the Prophets, the Saints, the first family [Israel] in the Old Testament. And, the progressive work of the Apostles, the New Creation man, the second family [the Church] in the New Testament continuing to the end of the age. But Second, culminating in a great end time “out pouring” of the Spirit for a “Great End Time Harvest,” accepting His covenant.  The work declared takes significant resources; the use of substantial material wealth of the world, the earth, the globe.  Israel took the wealth of Egypt and the rest is history.  But the church has never yet enjoyed the favour in comparison to that of Israel leaving Egypt to adequately continue.

Now watch what God does in Egypt: “20And I will stretch out my hand, and smite Egypt with all my wonders which I will do in the midst thereof: and after that he will let you go. 21And I will give this people favour in the sight of the Egyptians: and it shall come to pass, that, when ye go, ye shall not go empty. 22But every woman shall borrow of her neighbour, and of her that sojourneth in her house, jewels of silver, and jewels of gold, and raiment: and ye shall put them upon your sons, and upon your daughters; and ye shall spoil the Egyptians,” Exodus 3.

The wealth transfer from Egypt to the Children of Israel was miraculous, mind blowing, without comprehension, phenomenal. The entire individual wealth of Egypt was transferred to the House of the Lord without any orchestration, edict, decree or executive order. In fact, it was completely unknown to the palaces and the government of Pharaoh. Today, we would say it was a “stealth transfer.” It was a supernatural phenomenon. The night before the Children of Israel left Egypt, they simply went to their Egyptian slave master’s homes. And, the the Hebrew women asked the women of the Egyptian homes if they could borrowtheir wealth [oh and by the way, they would be leaving in the next day and wouldn’t be returning].  The world system under Pharaoh was completely caught “off guard” so to speak.

The favour of God left Egypt plundered, to which they have never recovered to this day. Also to this day, the Jewish mind not only remembers but knows: God’s great material abundance to His family is . . . could we say “customary – predictable!”  And the Jewish mind to this day “behaves in a way “that is” to be expected.”  They have received the revelation from God: from bondage to abundance, from lack to prosperity, from forgetfulness to favour.

And God was pleased to plunder Egypt and transfer of “His wealth and abundance and favour” to His family.  He boasts about it in Deuteronomy, Chapter 4. Never since God created Adam upon the earth has God ever done such great thing: 26I call heaven and earth to witness against you this day . . .  32For ask now of the days that are past, which were before thee, since the day that God created man upon the earth, and ask from the one side of heaven unto the other, whether there hath been any such thing as this great thing is, or hath been heard like it? 33Did ever people hear the voice of God speaking out of the midst of the fire, as thou hast heard, and live? 34Or hath God assayed to go and take him a nation from the midst of another nation, by temptations, by signs, and by wonders, and by war, and by a mighty hand, and by a stretched out arm, and by great terrors, according to all that the LORD your God did for you in Egypt before your eyes? 35Unto thee it was shewed, that thou mightest know that the LORD he is God; there is none else beside him. 36Out of heaven he made thee to hear his voice, that he might instruct thee: and upon earth he shewed thee his great fire; and thou heardest his words out of the midst of the fire. 37And because he loved thy fathers, therefore he chose their seed after them, and brought thee out in his sight with his mighty power out of Egypt; 38To drive out nations from before thee greater and mightier than thou art, to bring thee in, to give thee their land for an inheritance, as it is this day. 39Know therefore this day, and consider it in thine heart, that the LORD he is God in heaven above, and upon the earth beneath: there is none else.”

So, God has once before orchestrated a phenomenal wealth transfer which He identifies as the greatest event that has ever occurred, “since the day that God created man upon the earth, and ask from the one side of heaven unto the other, whether there hath been any such thing as this great thing is, or hath been heard like it?
