You Are What You Eat

By

We’re all familiar with the saying, “You are what you eat [consume].”  And that, I believe, can be literal or metaphorical.

Americans and the world have been dining on the flesh.  In that, I mean the “things” of the flesh, the desires of the world: consumerism, capitalism and power.  Unrestrained and undisciplined feeds what the Bible refers to: the lust of the eyes, the lust of the flesh and the pride of life.  Through those three gates mankind corrupts himself and suffers from his appetite.

Most of the national and global news today is the result of the lust of the eyes, the lust of the flesh and the pride of life. At every level of society and government are the decays of greed. More pleasure, more money, more [flesh] essentials.  And mankind in willing to go into excessive debt to satisfy desires of the flesh.  In fact, it becomes so bloated that it is unmanageable.  That’s what is happening in Washington and the world today.  Country by country is breaking at the weight of unsustainable desires of the flesh.

When in the course of consuming desires the nature of man becomes so beholden to his own deficiencies, he begins to justify his obsession as an obligation . . . a responsibility.  There is no greater example today than the deceitfulness of ruling parties and government.  It is deemed essential to continue with such gluttony in a justifiable retort – partly to belittle righteous responsibilities.

God, foreknowing the excesses of unrepentant man, has revealed His correction.  There will be a time and the end of the age when all of man’s pride and all of man’s arrogance and greed will be stained by the Father’s outstretched arm:

Isaiah, Chapter 2, 2And it shall come to pass in the last days . . . Their land also is full of silver and gold, neither is there any end of their treasures; their land is also full of horses, neither is there any end of their chariots:  8Their land also is full of idols; they worship the work of their own hands, that which their own fingers have made . . . 11The lofty looks of man shall be humbled, and the haughtiness of men shall be bowed down, and the LORD alone shall be exalted in that day. 12For the day of the LORD of hosts shall be upon every one that is proud and lofty, and upon every one that is lifted up; and he shall be brought low:”

We are living in a day when the pride of man is greater and loftier than it has ever been.  It is more consuming, more sinister and more deceitful.  But the earth is shaking and the Spirit of God is moving.  The heavens are shaking, the earth is shaking, the seas are shaking and the dry land is shaking.

This is the greatest time to be alive. Remarkable things are occurring in the earth and the LORD of hosts is being lifted up. As darkness continues to cover the earth and gross darkness the people [Isaiah 60], the LORD will arise upon His people and His glory shall be seen upon those that feed upon another diet. “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.” – Jesus; Matthew 4:4.

You are what you eat!  Feast on God’s word and rejoice in His abundance.  “Seek ye But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”Matthew 6:33.

Read the Word and live the Word.  Believers know the significance of reading the word of God so we may be able to ingest [the engrafted] word of God.

Be Blessed!
